Ambridge is a borough of approximately 7,000 residents, located about 15 miles northwest of Pittsburgh in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. In the summer of 2001, officers from the Ambridge Police Department and Beaver County Sheriff’s Office conducted two street-level reverse stings in response to residents’ complaints of increased prostitution activity in certain neighborhoods. The operations, conducted between July and August, intercepted a total of 8 men as they attempted to solicit sex from an undercover female officer. All of the johns’ names, ages, and addresses were published by local media outlets.
